Visitors, expats, and business owners across Bali are being reminded that Indonesian Immigration offices are closed today, Monday June 1st, due to the national public holiday celebrating Pancasila Day.

Pancasila Day is observed across Indonesia each year on June 1st and commemorates the founding principles of the Indonesian state. Government offices, immigration departments, and many public services operate on reduced hours or close entirely during the holiday.

For foreigners living in or visiting Bali, this may impact:

  • Visa extensions
  • VOA (Visa on Arrival) processing
  • KITAS and KITAP appointments
  • Passport collections
  • Immigration interviews
  • Business licensing appointments
  • Government administration services

Travellers planning “visa runs” or last-minute extensions are being advised to double-check office reopening times before heading to immigration offices in Denpasar, Jimbaran, or Singaraja.

While Bali’s airports, hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions continue operating as normal, some banks and government-linked services may also experience delays today.

Pancasila itself is considered one of the most important foundations of modern Indonesia. The five principles include belief in God, humanitarianism, national unity, democracy, and social justice. Ceremonies and official events are held throughout the country each year to mark the occasion.

The closure also serves as an important reminder for foreigners in Bali to avoid leaving visa matters until the last minute — particularly as immigration enforcement and visa compliance checks continue increasing across Indonesia.

Officials are expected to resume normal operations tomorrow.

For tourists currently in Bali:

  • Check your visa expiry date carefully
  • Ensure your tourism tax has been paid
  • Keep digital copies of your passport and visa documents
  • Allow extra processing time this week following the public holiday

As Bali continues to balance tourism growth with tighter immigration oversight, holidays like today can quickly create delays for travellers who are unprepared.
